Each Zarbya rug is handmade in Morocco, in carefully selected workshops outside Marrakech, under ethical and fair working conditions, using heritage-quality wool.
Every piece undergoes a meticulous finishing and washing process that enhances its sheen, softness, and depth, resulting in a rug with a feel and character unlike any other. Our designs are developed in-house, either by our own team or in collaboration with respected figures from the design world. Great question. Zarbya is proud to operate with a vertically integrated approach in Morocco, meaning we work directly with our own trusted weaving and finishing partners. This allows us to maintain full control over quality at every stage of the process.
By doing so, we can compensate our artisans well above local standards fairly, provide respectful and supportive working environments, and produce rugs of exceptional craftsmanship and consistency.

At Zarbya, each rug is handcrafted and often made to order. Due to the nature of our products, we maintain a strict refund policy as outlined below. All our products are subject to quality control.

Yes, all our rugs are made from 100% natural wool sourced from local Moroccan sheep. We use natural dyes whenever possible to create authentic, eco-friendly pieces.

New orders are processed within 24 hours, and sent straight to our workshop production team. The entire process - from setting up your loom, to weaving your rug, to washing and drying, takes 12 - 16 weeks. Rugs 9' x 12' and larger between 16-20 weeks. Can I request a custom design?
Currently, we offer customization primarily in terms of size and proportions, rather than full bespoke designs.

To help extend the life of your rug, we recommend avoiding motorized attachments with beater brushes. Lower the power of the suction if possible. Vacuum side to side (parallel to the tassels or bindings of the rug). Your movements should be slow and steady in order to suck up as much dirt and dust as possible. If you need to spot clean your rug, do so with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent. Wool naturally repels liquids at first contact so treat it quickly with a dry cloth and follow up with water and detergent and your rug should be fine.
After a few years (or more serious soiling), we recommend having your rug professionally cleaned. Look for a quality professional cleaner in your part of the world to help reinvigorate your zarbya rug.
